The 2026 Staff Art Exhibition aims to promote wellness and community building through the beauty, creation and display of original artworks.
This exhibition will provide a creative outlet for staff expression, highlighting the talent of our UNMC/NM employees system-wide and connecting patients and visitors with staff in a more personalized way. The exhibition brings together artists from various styles, mediums and backgrounds and showcases their work to the UNMC/NM community.
Submission Deadline: July 31, 2026
Eligibility
Open to all UNMC and Nebraska Medicine employees. Artists with all levels of experience are encouraged to submit their work.
Guidelines for Artwork Submission
The Healing Arts Staff Art Exhibition Committee seeks 2-Dimensional artwork to display in the 2026 Staff Art Exhibition. Selected artwork will be curated using the following criteria:
- Artwork submitted should relate to the mission of the Healing Arts program – to engage patients, caregivers, staff and students to heal through the arts.
- Each employee may submit one artwork.
- 2-Dimensional artwork in all media will be considered. This includes painting, drawing, printmaking, ceramic, photography and multimedia (collage, textiles, digital art imagery, etc.). We cannot currently accept 3-Dimensional or electronic media artworks.
- Original artworks only. Work must be original in concept and execution. Work must not violate any copyrights.
- All art must be suitable for a healing environment. Keep in mind that a hospital is often a highly stressful environment, so your artwork should have a high likelihood of positively affecting viewers, even promoting a calming response from them. Avoid threatening imagery or imagery perceived as dangerous. Controversial, political or religious imagery will not be considered.
- Digital images are assumed to be accurate representations of the entrant’s original artwork. Artwork that differs markedly from the submitted image will be disqualified.
Selection Process
Healing Arts is seeking artwork that displays originality, creativity, and the ability to create a compassionate, supportive and inspirational environment that supports healing through the arts.
All artworks will be reviewed blindly. Reviewers will only see your artwork, not your name.
Submissions will be reviewed blindly by the Healing Arts Staff Art Exhibition Committee. All artworks that meet the submission guidelines will be presented online through the Virtual UNMC/NM Staff Art Exhibition on the Healing Arts website.
Final selections for the physical gallery exhibition will be juried blindly by a juror/local artist. Artworks selected by the juror will be displayed in in the 2026 Staff Art Exhibition in the Healing Arts gallery located on Level 1 of the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center in October 2026 for approximately six months.
